3 days, 15 events, 33 schools, 1 fest - Perseverantia 2024. Our Inter-School Fest's third edition
proved that the third time’s a charm.
Perseverantia (or more affectionately - Persev) is our school’s annual Inter-School Fest,
completely organised and ideated by the students. This year’s Presidents - Ritika Kalantri, Arjun Kanodia and Dia Agarwal - certainly made their mark on our school and their efforts won’t be forgotten any time soon.
This year’s Organising Committee can only be compared to the characters in ‘Modern Family’, being a diverse group of students who overcame their differences and worked together toward one common end - the success of Perseverantia. Spending more than 16 hours a day working in school (!!!!!) definitely brought us together.
DAY 0
Registrations began and before we knew it, the long-awaited day had arrived. Only one event took place on Day 0 of Perseverantia, but the school was overflowing with energy making it seem like a dozen were taking place. It was an early day for the OC, having reported to school at the admonishable hour of 5 a.m. to get everything set up. And then….it began.
Persev kicked off with Tug of War, an event which tested brute force and strategy, and tugging of course. Even though teams were eliminated, they were not disappointed because it meant they could go and enjoy the abundant food stalls - Häagen-Dazs, KFC, Pizza Hut and more.
DAY 1
Day 1 of Persev was for all the athletes. They created a spectacle on the Court, the Field and all over Mahim. Whether it was dunk after dunk by the basketball players or goals that seemed impossible made by the footballers, everyone was in awe of their athleticism. But the star of the day was Explorare - the scavenger hunt. For the first time, it took place all over Mahim and not just on school grounds, the brainchild of the Presidents.
DAY 2
Day 2 was the main day of Perseverantia, it was for all the marbles. 11 events encompassing
several different avenues occurred on this day. Schools from across the city participated,
resulting in intense debates, captivating fashion shows, spectacular ramp walks, and electrifying dance performances that brimmed with energy and excitement. Participants wrote poetry, made reels and made some dazzling artwork. And while all of this was happening, the school band was playing music in the basketball court. Students were dancing and enjoying themselves, and the day brought people from all over Mumbai, having diverse backgrounds, together. This embodied this year’s theme of ‘inclusivity’.
Finally, the day came to an end with the declaration of the overall champion, Utpal Shanghvi
Global School, and one last flashmob. (The flashmob is what the OC looks forward to the most because it’s a time when we can let loose and have fun without having to worry about work).
One last 16 hour day drew the event to a close, with the OC being forced out of the school gate so they could finally spend time at home. The Presidents’ relief was palpable and so was that of the teachers’, knowing that they would finally have students in class.
It was a mix of emotions for the OC heads and Presidents, knowing that it would be their last
Persev. Many of them had lost their voices by the end of the day. But none could match the sheer elation of our teachers, Vice Principal and Principal by the success of the event.
Finally, this is the team of Perseverantia 2024…signing off!
