Flight of the Blue Balloon

She loosened her grip on the balloon in blue,

The string slipped out and away it flew.

She tilted her head up and watched it go,

Where it’d fly next she wanted to know.

The wind took her balloon on a gentle flight,

She knew she mustn’t let it out of her sight.

“Things we love come back,” people lie,

Her blue balloon was lost in the blue sky.

Her heart ached, but why shed a tear?

Her blue balloon was some place far better than here.

Up there her balloon looked so free,

It looked like what she’d always wanted to be.

So she jumped, and hoped she could fly,

Some things you never know till you try.
